This position is located in the Office of Health Information Programs Development (OHIPD).
As a Librarian, you will:
Serve as a point of coordination for trans-NLM and trans-NIH efforts in data science and open science including assessment of data and open science training needs among NIH scientists and staff.
Develop, communicate, and coordinate training and workforce development initiatives related to data and open science for NLM, NIH staff, and the broader research community.
Provide project management for implementation of NLM strategic plan objectives and coordinate with project managers of particular implementation activities to assure real-time monitoring of progress toward achieving objectives of the strategic plan.
Serve as a key advisor to the NLM Associate Director for Health Information Programs Development and Coordinator of Data and Open Science Initiatives, as well as to other NLM leadership and senior staff.
Develop and maintain ongoing relationships with and among representatives of member organizations and member initiatives of committees, working groups, and task forces formed to advance and stimulate data science and facilitate open science.
Play a leadership role in OHIPD efforts to develop innovative, effective ways to ensure workforce development and proficiency in data science at NLM, NIH and across the biomedical research enterprise.
Prepare and report analyses of data science and open science topics of interest, including the development, establishment, and application of metrics pertinent to data science and open science.
Manage contracts inter-agency agreements, and other partnering agreements with NIH ICOs, and governmental, academic, and commercial institutions related to the advancement of data science and open science training issues.
Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position.

Examples of specialized experience include: identifying priorities by developing long-term, mid-term, and short-term goals and objectives for a library organization; overseeing the development and management of projects, initiatives and products designed to meet the needs of everyday users of library systems; making recommendations to library policies, programs, and services based on extensive experience and knowledge of the research community and its information needs; and providing leadership in the design, development, implementation, and ongoing support of various library systems.
