Job Description Senior Assistant Librarian, City of Westminster (REF 1766) Starting Salary (Band HL6) \u00a330,150 per annum (\u00a324,120 pro rata). We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Assistant Librarian . The post is fixed term for one year, with the possibility of extension and\/or permanency, and is for 32.8 hours per week (including break-time). The House of Lords Library\u2019s primary function is to support and strengthen the parliamentary work of Members of the House. The Library provides politically impartial reference and research services, and advice about and access to printed and online resources, to demanding standards of quality and timeliness. While primarily a working library focusing on its core user group of some 700 active Members, the Library also serves the needs of House of Lords staff and Members\u2019 researchers. In addition, it manages and safeguards the Library\u2019s collections, comprising a wide range of online resources and around 80,000 printed titles, including special collections of national significance. The majority of the Library\u2019s collection is currently stored in the Palace of Westminster. A programme of work to restore and renew the Palace is planned. More information is available on the Parliamentary website, here: Main Objective: This post-holder will assist the Collections Project Manager and the Resources & Collections Librarian in ensuring that the Library\u2019s resources and collections are managed effectively and maintain relevance to the Parliamentary work of Members and other users, and in planning for the restoration and renewal of the Palace of Westminster as it affects physical collections of the Library.
