Grand Canyon University’s Library is seeking a full time Library Supervisor, responsible for management of all aspects of the Library’s Public/Access Services team, including reserves, stacks, schedule and the Library Instruction Room. This includes the day-to-day operation of the department, the stack areas, the online circulation system, inter-library loans and the building and its facilities, as well as planning to meet the needs of the department. The Library Supervisor is responsible for supervision of the student workers. The Library Supervisor works to accomplish the primary objective of serving library patrons by insuring smooth operation of the various activities of the department. Hours for this position will be Sunday-Thursday, 5:30PM - 2:30AM
Supervise the operation of the Public/Access Services team, including patron service, reserves, stacks maintenance and inter-library loans
Oversee the reservation and scheduling of the Library’s facilities, including the Reference team
Supervise, schedule, train, and evaluate all student workers in the department
Process all academic reserve requests from faculty, including placing materials on reserve for faculty and removing them from reserve
Collect and compile monthly statistics for the department and submit reports to the Library Director in a timely manner
Manage stack maintenance to insure prompt re-shelving of materials and regular shelf reading, tracing, and searching
Plan and supervise shifting and other special projects
Report computer and printer problems to Help Desk and order office supplies
Collaborate with other library staff as needed
Position requires evening and weekend hours
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university.
Minimum two years’ related library experience preferably in Public Services.
Must be able to work in a high volume, customer service environment.
Good written communication skills with a good command of the English language.
Good interpersonal and communication skill.
Must be a collaborative team player or capable of working independently.
Self -motivated and action oriented.
Must be proficient with computer usage and proficient with Microsoft Office, such as able to use email and send email attachments.
Able to explain how to use a computer and how to read a computer screen to people over the telephone or via video conferencing.
Familiar with utilizing article databases and various online search engines.
Must be able to pass background investigations.
Familiarity with computer technology, including Microsoft Office and library automated systems.
