Library Specialist: Circulation and Interlibrary

This position reports to the Head of Access Services and will provide support for student and teaching learning outcomes by assisting students to locate and check out resources, maintain shelf order of all circulating resources, and research, and process interlibrary loan lending requests. Evening and weekend hours are required.
**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:
- Maintain the daily operation of the Drake LRC 3rd floor.
Responsible for opening and setting up the library, maintains the library equipment in working condition.
Oversee the circulation functions for the library; in-depth knowledge of Horizon including the pull list function- sending materials to other library areas.
Run the missing and In transit books reports.
Change the status from available to being searched to missing to lost/withdrawn.
Handle patron fines and problems.
Maintain the calendar for the department.
Responsible for book collection activities for Drake LRC.
Maintain the book collection and weeds the book collection in Drake LRC general circulating area according to developed criteria and maintains the records accordingly.
Process interlibrary loan lending requests.
Maintain daily statistics prepares monthly interlibrary loan reports.
Create and maintain the holiday schedule for Drake LRC in concert with Administrative Services.
Supervise student worker and graduate assistant in the performance of their duties.
Perform other duties as assigned.
**Minimum Position Requirements (including years of experience, certifications, licenses, etc.)**:
- Associates degree or two (2) years of college levelcoursework
-At least two (2) years of experience in an academic librarysetting
-Must have knowledge of library terminology, standard library practices, and techniques, LC and Dewey library classificationsystem
-Must be able to work evening and weekend
**Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities**:
- Knowledge of current technologies, personal computer and office software such as word-processing, excel spreadsheet, and databasesoftware
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties
-Demonstrate a sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of staff and students and of staff and students with physical and learningdisabilities
-Work independently and in a team environment
