Job Description

Job Title: Systematic Review Librarian, Nutrition Evidence Library

Location: Alexandria, VA

Panum Group is looking for a Systematic Review Librarian to support our client at The Center for Nutrition Policy and Promotion; USDA Nutrition Evidence Library (NEL). This is a team of motivated nutritionists and systematic review methodologists who are dedicated to supporting evidence-based decision-making through their work on systematic reviews. NEL staff support systematic review projects that inform Federal nutrition policy and programs such as the Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

Requirements:

Strong expertise in systematic review literature searching in biomedical, nutrition, and public health related databases such as PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane is required.

Strong organizational and electronic information skills with proven ability to utilize indexing, controlled vocabulary, and search features (i.e. Boolean/proximity operators, limiters and filters, etc.) in bibliographical databases are needed.

Proven ability to work both independently and in a team environment is preferred.

A Master’s degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited library school is required.

Duties:

Work as part of a team and receive technical direction from the Office of Nutrition Guidance and Analysis (ONGA) Librarian and Team Lead.

Comprehensive literature searching in multiple databases to support NEL’s systematic review process.

Advise on NEL communications related to searches and electronic information resources.

Work closely with the ONGA Librarian and NEL Team.

Coordinate and/or assist in the NEL systematic review process.

Literature search, screening and selection.

Communicate with NEL staff and expert groups to accurately translate research questions into appropriate and comprehensive search terms and strategies.

Test, develop, implement, peer review, and document search strategies for relevant databases.

Perform title screening of search results.

Participate in the retrieval of full text articles.

Utilize bibliographic tools such as EndNote to manage literature content.

Assist in other related duties as needed for all CNPP projects.

Work Hours- Work hours will primarily be onsite at the USDA with some opportunity for telework.
