The pedagogical and curricular philosophies embrace multicultural perspectives that challenge educators and learners to examine their preconceived notions of race, gender, ethnicity, class, ability, religion, and sexual orientation. Educators tailor instruction so that the needs of the individual students are met. A committed faculty and administration strive to create a school that will stand as a model for what K–8 education can be and serve as a genuine and enduring partnership between **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. and its neighbors.   Reporting to the Director of Technology, the K–8 Librarian Leave Replacement works closely with the other K–8 Librarian and the Library Associates in supporting the library, which serves students and faculty in a K–8 independent school.   The primary duties of the K–8 Librarian Leave Replacement will include, but are not limited to: Teaching that will prioritize the K-4 weekly library classes Collaborating with the other K–8 Librarian and the Library Associates, Literacy Liaison, and K–4 teachers to ensure the library program supports the needs of the dynamic, integrated curriculum across the disciplines and reflect the diversity of the school community Supervising and assisting student readers and researchers in the library Participating in grade-level meetings and in meetings with individual teachers, to understand their practice and foster collaboration, and to coordinate the library program and collection with their needs Developing projects that make use of library materials and promote access to library resources within the school community Preparing displays, bulletin boards, and other promotional materials Playing an active role in collection development, maintenance, inventory, and weeding Assisting with cataloging and processing of new materials as necessary Participating in circulation management Shelving books and periodicals as needed Fulfilling duties, responsibilities, and commitments as outlined in the “Working at the School at **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.” handbook Participating fully in the active and rich life of TSC, including lunch duty and faculty meetings   Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree At least two years of experience in a school library, or in children’s services in a public library setting Strong interpersonal skills Deep knowledge of children’s literature Strong skill sets in collection development and readers advisory Commitment to equity and justice, including knowledge and skills related to cultural competencies Commitment to excellence in teaching and the education of children Wide-ranging intellectual and educational interests and understanding of the nature of integrated curriculum Experience working with Library Management Systems software, such as Follett Destiny School Library Management System or comparable systems Experience working with current web-based technologies, including Google platform and online databases   Preferred Qualifications: B.A. or B.S. degree in education from an accredited college or university Fluency in Spanish Master of Library Science (M.L.S.) or Master of Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.) degree from an accredited university   Please apply directly to this position at: ****  **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.   ,@type:JobPosting,responsibilities:,validThrough:2018-08-10T04:00:00Z,title:Librarian, Leave Replacement,datePosted:2018-06-11T19:14:23Z}
