Metadata Analyst, Lead

Brillient is seeking an experienced Metadata Analyst to Lead a team supporting our IRS contract in Washington, D.C.
The Lead Metadata Analyst will be in a supervisory and policy-setting role in the IRS’s research division, RAAS (Research, Applied Analytics & Statistics). The Lead Analyst will direct consult on a variety of metadata projects for datastores and data-driven systems across RAAS, mainly focused on the IRS’s largest data asset, CDW (Compliance Data Warehouse). The Lead Analyst will set metadata policies, lead the metadata workforce, shape metadata workflows and publishing and find innovations and efficiencies to close the metadata gap (the difference between data documented and data available). Metadata includes anything from structed column descriptions, code documentation, technical manuals, database provenance essays, and user-generated content capture.
The candidate should have extensive experience with researchers, econometrics, and practices of organizing and accessing information. The candidate should have had a leadership role at their prior place of work setting policies, improving workflows and investigating new technologies and techniques for providing better user experience and information access.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Analyze current metadata policies and create reccomendations to improve service, close the ‘gap’ and best utilize existing resources.
Analyze data ingesting and create applications or workflows to capture metadata as part of the ETL (extract transform load) process.
Survey, interact and monitor users to discover key insights for improving service and on-boarding more users to RAAS products.
Research and reach-out servicewide to connect research efforts in different divisions that could cooperate or be better served by RAAS’s expertise
Required - Master's Level Degree in Information Science, Library Science, Computer Science, Records Management, Archiving, Data Science or Economics
Preferred: Doctorate Level Degree in Information Science, Library Science, Computer Science, Records Management, Archiving, Data Science or Economics
Five (5) years experience in a supervisory or lead role at in research at an academic, corporate or government research department
U.S. Citizenship is required
