Description and Requirements
Overview
Under minimal supervision, assists in managing the operations of the University Library to ensure all goals and objectives are met.
Responsibilities
The technical services librarian is responsible for the daily management of all aspects of the digital library
Participate in activities which respond to a new user experience vision and strategy across a variety of services and complex information systems
Will provide leadership and vision for development of continuously evolving range of services, discovery systems, and online interfaces that support users and ensure a successful online experience
Create the technical procedures and documentation needed to maintain a complex library system
Identify, evaluate and implement emerging technologies for the delivery of library services, with special focus on social networking applications, mobile services, and instructional technologies.
May supervise the library operations, including leading, monitoring, and assessing work activities of library staff. May develop and implement methods and procedures for monitoring work activities. Recommends measures to improve methods, performance, and quality of service
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
Master's degree in library science from an American Library Association (ALA) accredited library college or university
Additional Qualifications:
Proven ability to organize, prioritize, and manage multiple processes and activities simultaneously
One or more years of progressively responsible library information technology experience
Proven ability to lead functional areas of an academic library
Proven experience with ERM systems
Proven experience with library discovery services
Expertise with COUNTER reporting and data collection
Proven experience with authentication methods such as Athens and/or EzProxy
Proven experience with Springshare /LibGuides
An understanding of web design and WCAG standards
Must be able to communicate in written and oral formats to students, faculty, and employees to provide support and assistance as it relates to library services
Must have a general working knowledge of personal software packages to perform word processing activities, utilize search engines and create and generate spreadsheets
