Performs functions to plan and conduct building repairs, preventive maintenance and cleaning at Main Library and branches. Working under the direct supervision of the Facilities Manager, the Assistant Facilities Manager will:

Manage operations relating to routine and preventive maintenance, repairs, room setups and cleaning for Main Library and Library Square.

Conduct inspections of Library buildings and grounds to assure library cleaning standards and preventive maintenance procedures are met. Maintain records relating to inspections, preventive maintenance and safety.

Perform minor building and equipment repairs and cleaning as needed.

Coordinate major repair and maintenance projects with Facilities Manager.

Train custodians and housekeepers, including refresher training. Assess competencies.

Perform and schedule outdoor maintenance, including snow removal, grounds keeping, irrigation systems maintenance and parking lots of the Main Library.

Maintain inventory levels of cleaning and maintenance supplies and reorder as needed. 8. Install, remove or assemble bookshelves and other library equipment as needed.

Hire, train, enforce Library policies, resolve difficulties, recommend changes to employment status, establish performance standards and evaluate employee performance for Main Library custodians and housekeepers.

Supervise the department in the absence of the Facilities Manager.

Model internal and external customer service.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Knowledge of and experience with HVAC, electrical and mechanical equipment.

Working knowledge of cleaning materials, methods and equipment.

Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions, good safety record.

Familiarity with computer applications, including Windows OS and Internet.

Reliable personal transportation and a valid driver's license.

Required to pass a physical examination at the Library's expense.

Drug Testing, Criminal History Record Check and Physical are required as a condition of employment. Any offer of employment is subject to the applicant passing a drug-screening test, Criminal History Record Check and physical.


$1,826.40-$2,284.00 biweekly
