Beaverton City Library is seeking an enthusiastic and creative leader to serve as our Youth Services Supervisor. This position oversees daily operations of the Youth Services Division including staff that places a high value on customer service and provides programs, storytimes, and reader's advisory to our wonderful patrons. The Youth Services Supervisor will work closely with the Youth Services Manager to provide training and guidance to the Youth Services team sharing supervisory responsibilities for 15 employees and seasonal/oncall employees.
This is a full time, exempt position with some evening and weekend hours required.
The Beaverton City Library Youth Services Team works hard to cultivate a welcoming and resource-rich environment to best serve Beaverton's diverse and dynamic population. We are customer-service oriented and have a reputation as a youth programming powerhouse! We place great value on our community partnerships and we are always expanding our outreach efforts to reach more children, teens, and families outside the library's walls. Our Youth Services Team strives to be on the cutting edge when it comes to Early Literacy services as well as multicultural programming.
Schedule, assign and review work and set performance standards to ensure the smooth daily operations of the Youth Services Department.
Supervise staff to ensure excellent customer service is provided to the patrons, volunteers and internal customers of the library.
Provide day-to-day leadership at Beaverton City Library.
Conduct performance planning, dialogue and development discussions with your direct reports.
Act with respect and integrity and promote and support diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
Other duties as assigned.

A Masters' degree in Library Science from an ALA-accredited library school.
Three years of experience in a supervisory or lead role in provision of direct customer service.
Some experience working in a library setting with youth.
Ability to pass reference and background check.
Ability to pass a written exam.
Experience working with children and teens of all ages and stages.
Experience using social media and other tech communication tools/platforms and expert online searching capabilities.
Experience presenting on projects and/or library trends with a wider library audience.
Ability to read, write and speak Spanish
Salary range is $4,808.06-$6,443.28 per month.
Starting salary will be determined depending on relevant work experience. The city pays the full retirement contribution to PERS; provides employees with an opportunity to participate in a deferred compensation retirement plan; and offers excellent health, dental, vision and life insurance coverage. The city also has available a tuition reimbursement program and a public service loan forgiveness program.
