Mason School of Business McLeod Library
The Mason School of Business Mc Leod Library is seeking a Business Librarian to cultivate partnerships between faculty, students, administrative units within the School of Business, and with other campus-wide libraries. They will provide course-integrated instruction, workshops, individual consultations, and research assistance to the School of Business population while actively pursuing outreach opportunities to promote library services, advance research, and learning for business faculty and students. Critical aspects of this role include ensuring collections are relevant to evolving business research demands, supporting the educational mission of School of Business, and advocating for the research and library needs of the School including the growing online programs and the students that are enrolled. This position supervises one library assistant and 15 student employees at two locations. The incumbent will work closely with others to ensure coordinated and efficient handling of all aspects of research services on a daily basis, making changes as necessary. This position is responsible for managing the Mc Leod library budget of and will work closely with the Associate Dean of Faculty and the Faculty Research Committee in determining future needs. Successful candidates will be comfortable with innovation, communicate well both in-person and in writing, be able to teach others in a fast-paced, service-oriented, and collaborative environment. They will care deeply about the evolving nature of libraries and be interested in best practices in the field as they will be playing a primary role in shaping the future of Mc Leod Library over the years to come. ALA-accredited masters degree in library/information science (MLS/MLIS) Public services experience in an academic library. Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Graduate-level degree in a business-related discipline. Evidence of successful project management skills and the ability to plan and implement programs. Demonstrated evidence of creativity, initiative, and flexibility when working independently and on teams. Demonstrated experience teaching in a classroom setting and providing in depth research assistance.
