Job Description

Position Summary

Integral member of the HE&OR team who leverages medical writing expertise to communicate research findings that assess the value of Novartis oncology product(s) for pipeline, newly launched and marketed product(s) in the US. This value evidence is communicated to clinicians, policy makers and payer to optimize appropriate access and reimbursement to Novartis oncology products. This position offers an opportunity to work on cross-functional teams to support Novartis oncology product(s), implementing value evidence communication for assigned product(s).

Major accountabilities:

In collaboration with HE&OR product leads:

oDevelop timely, high quality and relevant HE&OR abstracts, posters and manuscripts for external communication of data from HE&OR studies that demonstrate clinical, economic, and humanistic product value to payers and other decision-makers

oDesign and execute systematic literature reviews to assess the economic and humanistic burden of a specific solid tumor or hematologic disease. This information may be

Integrated with economic models

Inform the design of clinical trials

Integrated into slide decks to inform internal and external stakeholders about the burden of disease

Submitted for peer-reviewed publication

oDevelop publications reporting the results of HE&OR studies including:

US claims database analyses to assess burden and cost of disease for specific indications

Economic models

Assessment of patient reported outcomes research conducted across the product lifecycle

Chart review studies to assess utilization, costs and outcomes of disease for specific indications

Ensure compliance with all legal/regulatory and Novartis requirements/policies for HE&OR (publications and communications, GPP, Pharma codes, NVS SOPs/WPDs/guidance, Sunshine Act/ Clinical Transparency).

Maintain compliant collaboration with Global Oncology, US Clinical Development and Medical Affairs (US CDMA), Marketing / Managed Markets functions, in order to ensure alignment of US Oncology HE&OR strategy with business and customer needs

Minimum requirements

Graduate degree (MS, MA or MLS) in writing or literature or related field and experience publishing HE&OR research

Excellent writing and organizational skills

Works well in matrix environment

A minimum of five years:

oleading systematic reviews relevant to medication therapy

omedical writing experience in health economics and outcomes research including medical writing experience at a CRO, payer or as industry-sponsored fellow

Extensive knowledge of English grammar with a familiarity with a standard style guide

Ability to communicate scientific or medical information in a clear and concise manner

Proficiency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, email, and the Internet

Familiarity with the principles of clinical research

Ability to interpret and present clinical data and other complex information

Experience in a health outcomes and economic research, health policy, economic models, and oncology

Thorough understanding of ISPOR Best Practices for Literature Reviews

Thorough understanding of ICJME Guidelines

Familiar with the development and delivery of HE&OR communications for external US audiences (e.g., payers, FDA, academic centers or IDN) for multiple product(s)/therapeutic indications

Familiar with the US payer environment and payer/policy maker evidence needs for access and reimbursement

Demonstrated publication of HE&OR research including:

oDevelopment, validation and/or use of PRO measures

oUS claims databases to assess burden and cost of disease

oHealth economic models to assess the value of medical product(s)
