The Access Services department, part of the Student Success division, connects users with experts, collections, technology, and spaces. The department supports the discovery and delivery of resources, maintains the print collection in two main library locations, and manages course reserves. Staff work with a network of systems including Sirsi Workflows, ReservesDirect, ILLiad,
Logic, Relais D2D, and RapidILL; and contribute to the new and open approach to library resource sharing systems, Project ReShare. Access Services manages Ask Us, our combined service point, providing answers in person and through chat, lending books and a wide variety of technology, and operating the Hill and Hunt Libraries, keeping them open, fun, and safe.
Essential Job Duties
The Resource Sharing Librarian joins the management team in Access Services to set and achieve user-focused, forward-thinking goals and objectives. They collaborate with colleagues throughout the Libraries and academic consortial communities to identify and implement innovative discovery-to-delivery services and service improvements. The incumbent provides leadership and management for resource sharing, including interlibrary loan, delivery of materials on campus, scanning services, and physical and electronic course reserves, and provides proactive services to support the academic, professional, and extracurricular success of a diverse student population. They engage with users at Ask Us and analyze and act on user feedback and trends in resource sharing and scholarly communication. They supervise four full-time staff and a budget for student assistants, design workflows, and maintain internal controls and documentation. This position serves on library-wide committees, task forces, and teams. NC State University librarians are expected to be active professionally and to contribute to developments in the field. The position reports to the Department Head, Access Services.

Departmental Required Skills
Relevant experience, such as experience in interlibrary loan or course reserves operations
Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary issues in resource sharing
Ability to provide leadership for the delivery of excellent services to a diverse clientele
Ability to develop, implement, and assess services and programs that advance organizational goals

Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Management or supervisory experience
Ability to direct and coordinate projects and personnel
Record of engagement with a user community and commitment to creative, high-quality library services
Knowledge of contemporary issues in scholarly communication
Experience with delivering information and research services in an academic library, or with teaching, training, library instruction, or outreach
Required License or Certification
