Performs professional librarian duties in a medical library of a County hospital.
Essential Job Functions
Communicates committee information to the Education Resource Center Director, college faculty and institutes educational changes as necessary.
Uses clear and concise written and oral skills.
Develops and implements policies/procedures related to library/computer lab services.
Provides input and makes recommendations regarding library/computer lab resources and equipment needs.
Participates in chairs assigned special projects according to College needs.
Monitors and controls the Colleges library and student computer lab resources and supervises budgeting, planning and personnel activities related to the library and computer lab. Works collaboratively with the Education Resource Center Director and college faculty in defining policies related to the lab.
Evaluates effectiveness of library and computer lab in supporting student learning needs.
Collaborates with the Education Resource Center Director and faculty to ensure libraryand computer lab have learning resources to support students in the Colleges academic divisions.
Maintains statistics, records and prepares Program Review Reports related to the library and computer lab. Tracks trends, evaluates results and makes recommendations based on analysis.
Develops library/computer laboratory orientation materials and conducts orientation for new students and faculty. Evaluates effectiveness of orientation and makes changes as necessary.
Develops, coordinates, and conducts library programs. Provides college-wide support such as reference services, internet services, and assists with other assignments.
Incorporatescurrent trends in library science and information technology in nursing, nursing education and health care delivery in educational presentations.
Attends professional activities related to libraryscience and information technology.
Cataloguesnursing books and other library materials using National Library of Medicine classification schedule. Performs modified or original catalogingas applicable.
Develops and revises library staff job descriptions, standards and guidelines as necessary.
Schedules, trains and supervises Library Assistants and assigns tasks/projects as needed.
Ensures organized learning environment in library/computer lab.
Ensures fines and other monies collected by library staff are tracked and deposited in appropriate account.
Assumes circulation desk and other library/computer lab duties in situations of staff shortage and as a back-up as needed.
*A Master's Degree in Library Science from an accredited college - AND - One year's professional librarian experience in a medical library or graduate courses in at least two of the following areas: medical bibliography, medical library administration, or special library services.
PHYSICAL CLASS II-Light:
Light physical effort which may include occasional light lifting to a 10 pound limit, and some bending, stooping or squatting. Considerable walking may be involved.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
*In order to receivecredit for the Master's Degree, you must include a legible copy of the official diploma or official transcripts from the accreditation institutionwhich shows the area of specialization with your application at the time of filing or fax the copy of degree to us within fifteen (15) calendar days from the date of filing your application online.
This examination will consist of an evaluation of experience based upon your application information weighted 100%.
Candidates must achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be placed on the eligible register.
Applications will be processed on an as-received basis and those receiving a passing score will be promulgated to the eligible register accordingly.
The names of candidates receiving a passing grade in the examination will be placed on the eligible register in the order of their score group for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of promulgation.
No person may compete in this examination more than once every twelve (12) months.
The resulting eligible register for this examination will be used to fill vacancies in the College of Nursing and Allied Health, as they occur.
