Job Summary Interlibrary Loan is a service whereby a user of one library can borrow books or receive photocopies of articles that are owned by another library. Document Delivery is a service that provides Marriott Library patrons PDF files of articles owned by our library. The employee in this position will process incoming Interlibrary Loan requests for patrons from other libraries and\/or scan requested articles for our Document Delivery Service. Responsibilities Employee will be assigned tasks in any of the following areas of the department; Lending, Borrowing or Document Delivery. Responsibilities include: Verify ownership and availability of materials from the Marriott Library\u2019s collection using several software programs Retrieve books and journals from the library\u2019s collections Scan or photocopy articles using various types of equipment and different technologies Search and download articles from microfilm, microfiche and online databases Other duties as assigned Minimum Qualifications Six months clerical or customer service experience required; demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required. Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description. Preferences Good English comprehension and written language skills Computer literacy and typing skills of at least 35 wpm Familiarity with the Marriott Library catalog and databases Willingness to learn complex procedures and new technologies Attention to detail Self-Motivated Good problem solving skills Special Instructions Summary Must be a current University of Utah student enrolled in 6 undergraduate credit hours and 5 graduate credit hours during the fall and spring semesters. For the Library to be able to appropriately monitor hours worked, part-time employees are generally asked to restrict their work with the University of Utah to Library employment only, unless an exception exists.
