Description University of ColoradoElectronic Resources Librarian NATURE OF WORK The Electronic Resources Librarian managesthe access, maintenance, and preservation to information resources inelectronic and digital format. Otherduties will include managing the Digital Collections of Colorado, the library\u2019sinstitutional repository. SUPERVISION RECEIVED This position reports to theHead of Collection Management. FACULTY STATUS Health Sciences Libraryfaculty members serve as non-tenure track faculty. The Electronic Resources Librarian isappointed at theInstructor, Senior Instructor or Assistant Professorlevel, commensurate with professional and relevantexperience. PROFESSIONALDEVELOPMENT The ElectronicResources Librarianis expected to assume personal responsibility for designing and implementing aplan for continuing professional development and to actively contribute to thedevelopment of health sciences librarianship through scholarly and serviceactivities. SUMMARY OF DUTIESAND RESPONSIBILITIES This position is responsiblefor management of all electronic resources held by the library. Specific responsibilitiesinclude the following: Act as the point person for monitoring and troubleshooting accessissues for the library\u2019s electronic resources. Communicate with vendors of library resources on behalf of thelibrary about problems with resources or technical questions. Work with the library IT Department to resolve access problems forelectronic resources. Maintain electronic resources management system which detailsvendor contacts, consortium agreements, usage statistics, licensing terms, andother account and subscription information. Solicit,maintain and distribute use data for electronic resources. Assist the Head of Collection Management in evaluating vendors andresources. In collaboration with other library staff, improve and enhancefunctioning of library\u2019s discovery layer (ExLibris Primo) Leadthe library\u2019s participation in Digital Collections of Colorado, the library\u2019sinstitutional repository Advocate for the deposit ofscholarly content and other intellectual assets to the repository and provideconsultations to faculty and campus units in this endeavor. Collaborate with liaisons and other library personnel tobuild relationships with campus constituents and increase awareness of andparticipation in the repository. Participate in the development of guidelines, policies, andbest practices for the institutional repository. Maintain documentation of policies and procedures. Provide statistical and narrative reports as requested. Participate in library-wide activities, such as serving on librarycommittees and task forces. Participate in professional development and service activities. Qualifications Required Qualifications Master\u2019s degree from an ALA accredited library school orinternational equivalent. Degree must becompleted by July 2018 Experience working with library electronic resources in anacademic or research library, or an institution with substantial digitalcollection Experience working with an integrated library management system Preferred Qualifications Professional experience managing library electronic resources Experience with an electronic resource management system such asAlma\/Primo Awareness of current and emerging trends in publishing and scholarlycommunication Knowledge and\/or experience working with an institutionalrepository platform such as DSpace Experience working in a health sciences library Experience managing proxy tables Excellent oral and written communication skills Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong evidence of initiative, flexibility, attention to detail,high productivity, and creativity Ability to work independently and collaboratively on teams bothinternal and external to the library Commitment to a user service orientation and to workingcollegially with other library faculty and staff Experience with project management Salary andBenefits: Salaryis commensurate with skills and experience.
