Summary of Position The University of New Hampshire Library seeks a dynamic, innovative librarian for the position of research Data Services Librarian. This position plays a significant strategic and operational role in expanding the library\u2019s support for research data services to meet the growing needs of UNH faculty and students. Working closely with the Scholarly Communication Librarian and subject librarians, the UNH Research Office, UNH IT, and other partners in creating a robust research data infrastructure at the University, the incumbent is integral in developing and building sustainable services to assist faculty, researchers, and students with the management of research data.Reporting to the Dean of the University Library through the Library Department Chair, the position is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position; the successful candidate will be expected to meet University reappointment, promotion, and tenure requirements. The position is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty position with appointment at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications. The incumbent is expected to engage in scholarship and participate actively in library, university, and professional service. This tenure-track position reports to the Dean of the University Library through the Library Faculty Chair. Additional Job Information Posting Number\/Job Order # PF0149FY18 Acceptable Minimum Qualifications ALA-accredited master\u2019s degree in library and information science or foreign equivalent -Minimum number of 2 years of experience in a professional position in an academic library -Demonstrated understanding of the use and management of research data in an academic setting -Understanding of digital preservation strategies and data creation cycle\/data workflows, including version control, file formats, and secure storage -Ability to articulate a vision of the services, infrastructure, and skills required to support the data needs of researchers in an academic setting. -Understanding of trends in data management throughout the research lifecycle, particularly as they relate to science or social sciences research processes, including creating, processing, analysis, preservation, access, and reuse of research data. -Evidence of success in working with researchers to develop sound data management plans. -Demonstrated understanding of metadata standards for data sets, discipline-based ontologies, and conventions for citing data -Knowledge of the significant trends and issues in data management and research support -Experience with data normalization and cleaning processes -Understanding of intellectual property rights issues in the creation and reuse of research data -Demonstrated leadership and ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a collegial environment -Evidence of excellent analytical, oral\/written communication, and interpersonal skills Additional Preferred Qualifications -A second advanced degree in a relevant subject area is strongly preferred; a second advanced degree is required for granting of tenure -Experience working with research data as a researcher, research data manager or digital archivist -Knowledge of existing national and international disciplinary repositories -Experience with grant application processes -Experience with standard statistics and data analysis software, such as SPSS, Stata, R, Atlas.ti, and NVivo -Experience with HTML, XML, and XSL -Demonstrated ability to use web-based instructional tools and other web-based resources -Project management experience Salary Information Salary is complemented by a comprehensive benefits package which includes medical, dental, retirement, tuition, and paid time off.
