Posting Details Posting Details (Default Section) Requisition Number: Number of Open Positions: 1 Position Title: Assistant Professor Other Title Information: School Library Media Specialist NTRC Position Type: Faculty Organization: 207401 - SCHOOL OF LIBRARY & INFORMATION STUDIES Position Summary: The University of Alabama School of Library and Information Studies seeks a visionary faculty member for a full-time, Non-tenure Track Renewable Contract ( NTRC ) position to begin August 16, 2018 or at the rank of Assistant Professor in the area of School Library Media. The successful candidate will have an opportunity to lead our existing NCATE \/ CAEP and ALA accredited School Library Media program. Ad Text: Position Summary & Responsibilities: This energetic individual is expected to maintain an active role in: Advising master's students Supervising graduate internship experiences at K-12 school placements Developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with educators in K-12 schools and with other faculty members in the College of Education Participating in professional LIS organizations at the state, national, and international levels. Demonstrated teaching excellence is essential. The teaching load is four graduate courses per semester with the option to teach during the summer. Teaching modes include web-based synchronous distance education and face-to-face (on campus and at our satellite center in Gadsden, AL.) All faculty members are expected to work with diverse constituencies, teach in the core curriculum, engage in interdisciplinary activities, and obtain external funding. Additional Requirements: Earned doctorate in Library and Information Science or Education from a regionally accredited university prior to the appointment date. ALA -accredited MLIS degree or significant graduate coursework in school library media At least two years, full-time teaching experience in K-12 schools as a school librarian.
