Summary Ensure adherence to library policies regarding circulation, access, and security; develop, implement, and revise procedures and policies. Directly manage building security and emergencies in the Wells Library and other library locations across campus; open and close the Wells Library and\/or branch libraries; ensure all security procedures are followed; determine and declare emergency status as necessary; control safe evacuation of the building and direct emergency personnel; maintain current and appropriate training to respond to all emergencies. Assist in managing the annual bills and fines budget by reconciling cash drawers and safe contents, processing credit card payments, and accepting payments for bill and fine charges. Hire, train, and supervise Temporary employees; process payroll and maintain payroll records. Create and manage patron records in the circulation system ensuring strict adherence to privacy and confidentially laws and policies. Provide reference services both in person and remotely; assist patrons in locating resources and collections; refer patrons to appropriate staff when in-depth assistance is required. Manage reserve books and materials requested by faculty; consult with faculty members about item and edition choices, as well as availability. Required Qualifications REQUIRED: Two years college level course work and one year library experience. Demonstrated problem-solving and decision-making abilities; ability to work under pressure, in emergencies, and with multiple interruptions. Strong interpersonal skills including a demonstrated ability to interact tactfully and courteously with faculty, staff, students and other library users and the ability to work cooperatively in a team environment. Good verbal and written communication skills. Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, internet applications, and database\/online searching. Ability to process complex, detailed work with accuracy. Ability to effectively organize tasks and manage time. Preferred Qualifications Customer service and supervisory experience strongly; experience with cash handling. Working Conditions \/ Physical Demands Ability to stand and sit for long periods; bend; stretch; stoop; climb; and lift, push, and pull up to 25 pounds regularly and up to 50 pounds occasionally. Ability to work at a computer for long periods. Ability to travel among multiple library locations across the Bloomington campus. Ability to work a flexible schedule.
