The faculty and staff of the Spencer S. Eccles Health Sciences Library (EHSL) at the University of Utah invite applications for an Assistant or Associate Librarian. This is a career-line (non-tenure-track) faculty position reporting to the Associate Director for Education and Research. The incumbent acts as a key member of theEHSLteam responsible for the Center for Clinical and Translational Science's Systematic Review Core. The incumbent collaborates to provide an effective, high quality systematic review service, including working with researchers across disciplines to develop workable research questions and protocols, creating and documenting expert literature searches, validating and peer reviewing information retrieval strategies, advising on systematic review standards and methods, supporting citation management throughout the process, and co-authoring manuscripts based upon completed systematic reviews. The successful candidate will also conduct training sessions, perform outreach about systematic reviews on behalf of the Systematic Review Core and theEHSL, and actively cultivate funding streams by developing new service lines, forging partnerships and relationships, and contributing to collaborative grant opportunities. This position will also assist with literature reviews and provide consultations as a part of the Education and Research Department. Members of the Systematic Review Core are highly motivated and engage in continuous, self-directed learning and research to hone and develop skills, expertise, and innovative methodologies. This position is a full-time, career-line faculty position in theEHSL. All librarians are expected to contribute to the University of Utah and the profession through service, scholarship, and outreach.

The mission of theEHSLis to advance and transform education, research, and health care through dynamic technologies, evidence application, and collaborative partnerships. The Library contributes to the success of health professionals, students, researchers and the community. The Library is recognized locally and nationally as a leader of intellectual exploration and as a catalyst for innovative discovery.

TheEHSL( serves University of Utah Health, the Intermountain West's only academic health sciences center, including the Schools of Medicine and Dentistry and the Colleges of Nursing, Pharmacy and Health, the Huntsman Cancer Institute, and the University of Utah Health Hospitals and Clinics. TheEHSLalso serves as the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, MidContinental Region and the National Library of Medicine Training Office. It is a member of the Utah Academic Library Consortium, the Medical Library Association, the Association of Academic Health Sciences Libraries, and the Association of Research Libraries.



•Graduate degree from anALA-accredited library school or other relevant accredited graduate degree

•Minimum 1 year professional experience in a health sciences library or as a systematic review expert

•Familiarity with literature searching

•Commitment to learning new methodologies, experimentation, and continual quality improvement

•Willingness to engage with the expert searching and systematic reviews communities as communities of practice

•Interest in conducting research

•Flexibility and adaptability for work in a fast-paced, changing environment

•Comfortable learning new technologies and processes

•Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

•Belief in the value of collaboration, teamwork, and compromise coupled with demonstrated ability to work as part of a team

•Demonstrated experience working on systematic review teams across health-related disciplines

•Expert literature searching experience, particularly usingMEDLINE/PubMed, Embase, CochraneCENTRAL, and other key health sciences databases and grey literature resources

•Familiarity with evidence synthesis search methodologies, guidelines, and standards, including theNAMStandards,PRISMA, and the Cochrane Collaboration

•Experience using evidence synthesis project management tools, including Covidence, DistillrSR, EndNote, Excel, REDCap, Rayyan, or others

•Experience with the research process, including writing manuscripts

•Experience providing instruction in an academic setting

•Awareness of scholarly communication issues within the health sciences

•Demonstrated ability in project management

•Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving skills

Salary and Benefits:

Based on experience, starting at $53,000 minimum annually. Position is a full-time, career-line (non-tenure-track) faculty position. Rank is dependent upon the qualifications of the candidate. Faculty benefits include 200 hours of vacation, and 12 days of sick leave annually. There is a generousTIAA/CREFretirement employer contribution.
