Part-Time Children’s Librarian/Librarian Trainee
The Port Jefferson Free Library is seeking an enthusiastic, energetic, creative, child/parent friendly and customer-service oriented individual. The successful candidate should possess a strong interest and knowledge of children’s literature and culture.

*Desire to work with children from Birth to Age 12 (Grade 6) and their parents/caregivers.
*Ability to work as a team member and collaborate with coworkers on projects and programs. You must be result oriented, have excellent interpersonal skills, embrace change and should seek “to make it happen.”
*Demonstrate a positive, energetic and excited attitude towards public service. Willingness and ability to represent the library at various events through the community, engaging in library promotion and activity participate in activities that engage children and parents/caregivers.
*Developing, promoting and executing innovative programs, including all aspects of STEAM.
*Have strong time management skills and the ability to work on multiple tasks with minimal supervision need to ensure responsibilities.
*Willingness to participate in school outreach and community events that take place outside of the normal work schedule.
*Completed MLS degree or currently be enrolled in an ALA-accredited library school.
*Experience working in a busy Children’s Department.
*Prior experience working with Sierra, Google applications, Microsoft programs, Event Keeper a plus.
*Flexibility to work several mornings/afternoons, at least 1 evening a week, and 2 Saturdays a month is a must. Sunday rotation available.
Preference will be given to those with experience working with children.
