The Department Head of Digital Creation advances an open agenda through innovation and sustainable planning. Portfolio includes development, project management, implementation, and support of websites, digital collections, and other creative digital projects. Works with colleagues to achieve strategic goals through strong leadership and broad collaboration for an ambitious suite of services.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Provide leadership and vision in identifying, planning and implementing future, innovative library digital initiatives as a member of the University Libraries Dean's Council, Scholarly Communications Division, and campus research teams. Collaborate with library and project staff to create and manage project plans for websites, digital collections or other digital projects, ensuring that the industry standards for digital production and design, metadata, collection management, data curation and quality control are met. Lead Digital Creation Department projects and manage staff with the department. Collaborate with Department Head, Special Collections to provide ongoing digital access to our unique collections. Collaborate with disciplinary subject librarians, Digital Humanities Librarian, Director of Grants and Research, and UTA faculty to actively recruit new user communities, to plan, fund, and execute collaborative digital initiatives. Participate in cross functional campus or Library teams and actively participate in professional growth activities to enhance skills, reputations and contribute to the profession. Performs other duties assigned.

Master's degree in library and/or information science from an ALA-accredited program or a related graduate degree.
Demonstrated organizational, analytical, decision-making, problem-solving and planning skills. Computer literate and technologically adept. Proficiency in MS Office Suite, specifically Outlook, Word, and Excel. Proficiency in Windows Operating System and file management.
Five (5) years of professional library experience in management of information technology or digital services, three (3) years of supervisory experience, two (2) years or more of project or personnel leadership experience.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ Experience with the full life cycle of academic or scholarly publishing and knowledge of memoranda of agreement/understanding with publishing partners.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ Experience writing grants to fund publishing initiatives.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ Experience with software, platforms, and related tools (i.e. image-editing).
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ Experience creating epub, other ebook formats, and providing technical support.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ Knowledge with minting identifiers including CrossRef or DataCite DOIs, Handles, ORCiDS, and ISSNs at the personal and organizational level.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ Knowledge of relevant metadata schemata for digital projects and to oversee deposits with CrossRef, EZID, Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), and journal aggregators.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ Experience performing system administration duties and writing advanced web authoring code: CSS or PHP.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ Experience advocating, managing, disseminating, and developing local and/or externally produced OERs.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ Experience in assisting faculty and students with scholarly communication issues and promoting scholarly communication support services.
Ã¢â‚¬Â¢ Expertise with web development and design principles.
