Overall Job Objective Position Overview The Library Page shelves library materials while performing routine clerical work to assist the Library with day to day operations. This is a part time position located at the North Valley Regional Library 40410 N Gavilan Peak Pkwy, Anthem, AZ 85086 Position Qualifications Minimum education and/or experience:Must be at least 16 years old and possess the ability to read and write in English. Knowledge, skills, and abilities:Knowledge of:Library services.The English alphabet and spelling.Skilled in:Excellent customer service.Professional in-person etiquette. Problem solving capabilities. The areas of organization and neatness as it relates to the maintenance of the library's collection.Ability to:Follow verbal and written instructions, and perform tasks in accordance with established procedures. Use and navigate programs within the Microsoft office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook). Organize materials according to the Library District's classification system. Work with the public. Perform the physical aspects of the position (repetitive lifting, reaching, bending, pushing a heavily loaded book cart).Read/write English. Preferred education and/or experience:Prior public contact and/or library experience. Working conditions:This position works in a library environment. The position requires repetitive shelving, straightening, shifting and sorting of library materials. Requires standing and bending for extended periods. Scheduling is varied, continually dependent on Branch needs, and often requires evening and weekend availability, including availability on short notice. Position may be asked to cover shifts at nearby library branches. Position may be located on a high school campus and involve considerable interaction with student customers. Must be able to stand and bend for extended periods. Lifting floor to waist - 20 lbs; Lifting waist to shoulder - 10 lbs; Lifting shoulder to overhead - 5 lbs; Carrying a distance of 50ft - 15 lbs; Pushing/pulling a distance of 100ft - 50lbs. Essential Job Tasks Sorts, shelves, and files various library materials accurately according to library classification system.Reads shelves for accuracy and reshelves misplaced items.Shifts materials as assigned.Unpacks and packs boxes of books and other library materials.Performs routine support tasks. Maintains appearance of work and public areas.Locates and retrieves library materials from public and non-public areas for library staff or library users.Checks in library materials using the computerized library system.Pushes carts heavily loaded with books.Provides exceptional customer service to internal and external customers using the Library District's Great Expectations customer service model.Answers directional questions and refers customers to appropriate staff member for assistance.Demonstrates respect for customers and fellow staff, and fosters a collaborative team environment.Provides direct public service to customers by having a basic understanding of available library services.Upholds District service standards and participate fully as a MCLD Citizen.Adheres to Library District policies and procedures.Complies with the Maricopa County Code of Ethics. Participates in goal setting with supervisor; updates and maintains skills, as necessary.Participates fully in all meetings.Demonstrates timely attendance and completion of work.Maintains personal and professional development.Performs other duties assigned. Selection Procedure The hiring authority will select the successful candidate based on departmental needs. These requirements do not pertain to employees of elected officials who undergo background investigation processes administered through their respective offices.Typically successful candidates are hired at a salary rate, up to midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity and budgetary allowances.
