Our client has an immediate need for an experienced Taxonomist Specialist to help with strategies to promote products through the Website Marketing efforts.
Our client's E-Business Teams are responsible for development and implementation of strategies intended to promote the organization's products and/or services through website marketing. They analyze and design eCommerce applications to meet business process initiatives. As a member of the E-Business team, you will support the work required to maintain their taxonomy, information architecture, and content and knowledge management projects to sustain a customer-centric online catalog. You will lead taxonomy development initiatives, work directly with and negotiate across internal business units as well as drive project objectives. You will help establish and govern company-wide best practices and assist with developing methodologies for all taxonomy projects.
You will be involved in the large-scale normalization of an existing product data taxonomy in the Electronics industry. Extremely high attention to detail and ability to work at a granular level to sift through, meticulously organize and identify mutually exclusive concepts to build a preferred vocabulary that will be applied to their digital online catalog.
Ability to logically and methodically work through large data sets using Excel and/or Access
Find patterns of commonality in the use of terms in an existing product data taxonomy to build a vocabulary of Preferred Attribute Names and Values
Aptitude for understanding system integrations and the effect on downstream systems when implementing mass updates to the taxonomy structure and associated product data
Supports the Taxonomy Team in the development and maintenance of taxonomies, including the reviewing of content for possible gaps in coverage, identifying new terms, synonyms and term relationships
Creates categorization rules for new taxonomy terms as well as maintains and improves rules for existing terms
Evaluates search performance and the relevancy of search results using a quality assurance scorecard to identify areas for improvement
Generates analytical reports on categorization, search and related user behavior
Provides stakeholders guidance on taxonomy and findability as well as explains decisions made by taxonomy team
Explores innovations and best practices within the discipline
Recommends and leads implementation of improvements
Education Required / Qualifications:
Master's Degree in library or information science
1 to 2 years of experience in taxonomy, controlled vocabulary and metadata development
Understanding of taxonomy best practices and standards
Familiarity with the engineering and manufacturing industry preferred
Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
Experience with Microsoft SharePoint
Good analytical and problem-solving skills
English language skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Other Desired Qualifications Include:
Experience with online Hybris catalog and Synaptica taxonomy management systems
Experience with AEM content management digital asset management systems
Experience managing taxonomies for large websites
Experience doing user research and usability testing
Experience preparing business or technical documentation
