I. Position Summary: The Academic Program Director & Learning Resource Center Coordinator (APD/LRCC) provides vision, leadership, and sound management principles to ensure academic programs offer superior learning environments to a diverse student population. The APD/LRCC collaborates with the campus Director of Education to ensure excellence in instructional delivery and program continuity, as well as student success, retention, and satisfaction. The APD/LRCC is instrumental in developing and implementing updated and innovative academic programs by serving on campus and college-wide committees. Selects and maintains an up-to-date collection of materials for the Learning Resource Center and teaches and promotes information literacy to faculty and students. II. Major Responsibility Areas: MRA #1. Academic Support. Ensures excellence in classroom, student development activities, and educational support to faculty and students to facilitate student acquisition of the personal, interpersonal and professional/vocational skills needed to be effective in the vocation he/she has chosen to pursue. u2022 Communicates with program instructors to ensure students and course needs are met according to program requirements; u2022 Monitors classroom and online activities according to program requirements to ensure students are engaged and encouraged and assists in developing and maintaining both personal and professional development; u2022 Provides learning resources and teaching materials, including textbooks and educational software that are appropriate and pertinent to the program requirements to ensure quality education; u2022 Provides guidance and mentorship on innovative delivery of instruction; u2022 Reviews student evaluations for all instructors in programs within the area of responsibility. u2022 Holds regular department meetings with faculty to ensure communication and buy-in on key strategic initiatives within the academic program and college as a whole; u2022 Ensures program faculty recognize and address differences in learning abilities of diverse student populations; u2022 Completes instructional observations in alignment with **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. policy and procedure guidelines; u2022 Ensures compliance with state and accreditor standards and regulations. Works with Campus Resource Center (CRC) academic personnel and Vice Chancellor of Academic Affairs and Director of Learning Resource Systems to ensure compliance with state, national, programmatic and accreditoru2019s standards and regulations; u2022 Leads development, management, and meetings of quarterly Program Advisory Boards in alignment with **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***. policy and procedure guidelines u2022 Provides faculty members with educational support by meeting with Lead Instructors in order to determine what materials they need available in the Learning Resource Center for their programs u2022 Maintains a special collection of materials in a separate part of the Learning Resource Center for faculty use u2022 Maintains tutors and schedules that will serve the need of current active students u2022 Designs and maintains a database of current students willing to tutor other students u2022 Evaluates the effectiveness of the tutoring program u2022 Makes recommendations for enhancing the tutoring program u2022 Teaches information literacy in all programs to students to assure student success MRA# 2: Student Relations/Student Mentoring Proactively manages, mentors students in their program for learning outcomes and career progression. Proactively mentors students and effectively supports students at risk of attrition due to poor attendance, unsatisfactory academic progress or other at-risk indicators. u2022 Engages in timely intervention with at-risk students when early signs suggest studentsu2019 lack of engagement; u2022 Interventions should be frequent, by email, phone, text, and in person meetings - must be documented in CampusVue. u2022 Communication to Director of Education and the appropriate other Academic Program Directors when students exhibit early warning signs (such as lack of attendance, not meeting competency level expected, low grades, missing assignments or instructor feedback). u2022 Regularly monitors student academic progress via CampusVue, Canvas, and communication with program faculty; u2022 Promptly (within one business day) responds to emails from students and faculty; u2022 Ensures that faculty in program are responding to student questions and concerns within 24 hours; u2022 Ensures that faculty in program are posting daily attendance and grades for assignments in a timely fashion not to exceed 72 hours; u2022 Monitors the amount of time instructors are allowing for students outside of classroom to address concerns; u2022 Advises instructors on best practices related to resolving student concerns and/or complaints; u2022 Coordinates student support activities with key stakeholders in other functional areas to connect students to appropriate resources to resolve personal and academic issues; MRA# 3: Campus and Community Involvement. Participates in campus and community professional activities and meetings in order to stay informed of current private and political events that will foster professional growth. u2022 Reads current professional periodicals and keeps abreast of current developments in field(s) of expertise; u2022 Attends job-related seminars and workshops; u2022 Maintains memberships in professional organizations; u2022 Assists in securing community leaders, knowledgeable professionals and employees to serve on the Program Advisory Board in order to create and maintain a positive and visible image; u2022 Attends graduation previews, graduations, meetings, and other school-related functions when possible; u2022 Keeps active in the community and seeks ways to attract community, business, and other special interest leaders and people to visit the campuses across the enterprise. MRA# 4: Learning Resources Center Operations. Selects, maintains and supervises the center ensuring the collection of materials is up-to-date and meets the minimum standards established by the Collegeu2019s accrediting agency. u2022 Maintains the print collection at a current and usable level u2022 Maintains electronic/online learning resource materials u2022 Selects and orders current print materials that will enhance the Collegeu2019s curriculum u2022 Provides professional assistance to both students and faculty so that their experience in the Learning Resource Center will be positive and of educational value u2022 Provides educational assistance in locating materials through the use of a computerized/automated library catalog system u2022 Gives detailed instruction on how to use the automated catalog system to both students and faculty members u2022 Communicates the statistics on use and current collection use of the Learning Resource Center to evaluate the relevance and effectiveness of curricula in the designated course program u2022 Assists the Director of Education in developing and implementing updated program content u2022 Develops an database to be demographically specific to our students population that will enable the College to ascertain our studentu2019s needs u2022 Teaches information literacy in all programs to students to assure student success Other duties as assigned. Requirements Job Requirements: The following job requirements represent minimum levels of education, experience and competencies/abilities needed to perform this job successfully: 1. Education: Must meet academic requirements for instructors in the discipline/program. A masteru2019s or doctoral degree is preferred (unless required for instructor in discipline); 2. Experience: Must have at least four years of documents teaching or training experience. Experience with online and/or hybrid learning models is preferred; Must have minimum four years work experience in the discipline/program field; Must have minimum four years of work experience in a library or similar setting; If the field requires special licenses or certifications, these licenses and certifications are required to be in good standing in the state of practice; 3.
