GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
Under the general direction of the Library Director, the Student Success Librarian provides overall leadership, direction, and assessment of the Library's student success initiatives. This position collaborates with librarians, faculty, and other campus partners to develop, support, and assess library services and programs that foster student success, recruitment, and retention. The Student Success Librarian serves as liaison to a number of academic departments, participates actively in the provision and assessment of research services, ensures a consistently high level of service quality to both local and remote users, and builds strong working relationships with internal and external partners. This position establishes and maintains positive working relationships with supervisors, colleagues, and subordinates throughout Lindell Library, Augsburg University, and the broader academic library community.
Provides overall leadership and direction for Lindell Library's student success initiatives.
Leads the development of a multi-layered library instruction program designed to meet the learning needs of a broadly diverse student body.
Develops and delivers instructional programs and learning objects in a variety of formats for users at Augsburg's Minneapolis, St. Paul, Rochester, and international locations.
Coordinates assessment of Lindell Library's student success initiatives and participates in university-wide assessment initiatives.
Collaborates with faculty and librarians to integrate information literacy and digital literacy concepts into the curriculum.
Collaborates with other university units in support of student success, recruitment, and retention initiatives.
Cultivates strong working relationships with both academic and non-academic units and fosters awareness about ways the library can serve as an essential partner in facilitating student success.
Maintains awareness of and advises librarians on best practices related to student success, library instruction, and assessment.
Serves as liaison to a number of academic departments.
Actively engages with and develops strong working relationships with faculty, students, and staff in assigned departments or centers.
Promotes library services and collections.
Provides in-depth reference services as well as individual and group consultations in designated subject areas.
Maintains statistics on reference transactions, research consultations, and instruction sessions in accordance with library practice.
Creates and maintains appropriate online research guides.
Develops and maintains collections to support the research, teaching, and learning needs of the Augsburg University community; actively participates in collection management projects such as serials cancellation or weeding.
Educates and informs users on issues of scholarly communication, and promotes library services around this issue.

Master's degree in library science from an ALA-accredited institution.
Demonstrated experience designing instructional content with defined learning outcomes.
Demonstrated understanding of learning theory and pedagogical best practices.
Demonstrated experience with assessment of library instructional programs and services.
Knowledge of trends, methods, and best practices in student engagement and success.
Commitment to diversity and inclusion; demonstrated experience working with users of all ages and from diverse socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.
Excellent interpersonal skills and both oral and written communication skills.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively in a diverse work environment.
Ability to be attentive to details, be accurate, be precise.
Ability to lead/teach and mentor others.

Additional advanced degree in a subject discipline.
Previous experience teaching a credit-bearing information literacy course.
