Libraries is seeking applications from enrolled graduate students for two Library Associate positions in the Special Collections Research Center. These are twelve-month, part-time positions that offer graduate students the opportunity to join an innovative and growing special collections program. The positions are primarily assigned to arrange and describe collections. Library Associates will examine patterns of documentation and, following archival principles, develop and implement arrangement schemes, write clear and accurate descriptions of physical and digital collections, and produce finding aids using ArchivesSpace. They will also perform basic preservation tasks and be introduced to issues relating to digital collections. Library Associates may supervise undergraduate student assistants on various projects, may assist in the preparation of public exhibitions, may participate in digitization initiatives, and may interact with researchers, provide reference assistance, or support instruction efforts.
The Library Associates program provides valuable experience in a leading research library while allowing participants to work closely with librarians and information technology professionals on important special collections projects. Associates gain experience working in teams, exposure to relevant professional issues, and mentoring from experienced professionals. The Special Collections Research Center houses the University Archives and the manuscript and rare book collections.
Must be enrolled or accepted in an
-accredited M.L.S./M.I.S. graduate program or graduate Public History program.

Evidence of leadership potential, including excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to thrive in a team environment.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education
Coursework in or experience with archives/manuscript processing, digitization technologies, or other areas of special collections.
