Job Description

This position serves as the government documents coordinator for the College's selective Federal Depository Library collection, as the business liaison librarian, and provides outreach services for the OCC Community. Responsibilities include providing digital and traditional reference and instruction services, teaching both digital and traditional format information literacy classes, and providing liaison services for various programs in the School of Business and Social Sciences. This position also conducts informal librarianship observations of both tenured and non-tenured information professionals for library effectiveness, collects and evaluates data and teaching materials related to Learning Assessments and Program Reviews, and performs other administrative responsibilities as assigned by the immediate manager.

List of Essential Activities

1. Works with faculty to design and teach information literacy supplemental classes in both traditional and digital formats, develops teaching and instructional resources for traditional and digital delivery
2. Provides reference services in both digital and traditional formats, including providing virtual reference services
3. Provides leadership in the organization, use, and management of the Library's selective Federal Depository Collection in a rapidly changing publishing environment; promotes user awareness of and access to government information in all formats; and serves as a resource person for government documents
4. Develops and provides outreach services for face to face and eLearning students, and for OCC-affiliated high school students
5. Builds collaborative relationships with OCC faculty, students and colleagues in peer institutions; serves on College committees and participates in professional associations
6. Serves as liaison and collection developer for college programs as assigned
7. Performs informal librarianship observations for tenured and non-tenured information professionals
8. Advises students on academic curriculum; participates in student learning outcome assessments
9. Assumes shared responsibility for the development, collection, vetting, and recommendation of training materials related to using new digital tools and emerging technologies
10. Related projects and duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

1. Master's Degree in Library/Information Science (MLS or MLIS or similar degree) from an ALA-accredited institution
2. Two years of experience working with government documents and related materials
3. Two years of experience providing reference, instructional, or training services
4. One year of experience using digital tools/software to develop information resources and training content
5. Two years of experience with using print and electronic information resources and emerging technologies
6. Experience teaching in a diverse environment to include students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds
7. Strong interpersonal and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

1. Two years of experience post-MLS in an academic library
2. Previous experience with library outreach activities

This position requires a flexible schedule and normally works Monday through Friday, 11:00am-7:00pm. This position will participate in weekend coverage rotation.
