The California Judicial Center Library in San Francisco has an opening for Law Library Technician I or II. This position is a 12-month limited term position and includes benefits. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon renewed funding. The position will be staffed at a level that is commensurate with the qualifications of the selected individual.
THE CALIFORNIA JUDICIAL CENTER LIBRARY
The California Judicial Center Library serves the legal information needs of the justices and staff of the California Supreme Court and the California Court of Appeal, First Appellate District; and the staff of the **MEMBERS ONLY**SIGN UP NOW***.. The Library's collection of more than 300,000 volumes is located in San Francisco, Sacramento and Los Angeles. Law Library Technician I/II are assigned to the San Francisco location, a 45,000 square foot facility located in the Hiram Johnson State Building, 455 Golden Gate Avenue.
Under direction from the Collection Management Services Staff, the Law Library Technician I/II performs a full range of technical law library duties associated with the management of a law library collection including but not limited to serials processing, circulation routines, and loose-leaf and pocket part filing.
Responsibilities
Process books and other materials received by the Library, including opening, logging, sorting and distributing materials to justices and attorneys; and update distribution and routing lists;
Utilize Innovative Interfaces Inc.'s Sierra library software to perform serials check-in, barcode incoming materials, and perform routine circulation tasks;
Answer directional and non-complex inquiries;
Operate a variety of standard office and library equipment;
Plan and participate in collection moves and stacks maintenance;
Transport books and boxes of books weighing up to approximately 40 pounds;
Attend Department of General Services monthly building meetings;
Prepare materials for the bindery as needed, and;
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Law Library Technician I:
Equivalent to possession of an associate degree, preferably in Library Science, and two years of paraprofessional library experience.
Additional directly related experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis. Additional directly related college-level education may be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis.
Law Library Technician II:
Equivalent to an associate degree, preferably in Library Science, and two years of paraprofessional law library experience.
Additional directly related experience may be substituted for the education on a year-for-year basis. Additional directly related college-level education may be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Pay and Benefits
Salary Ranges:
Law Library Technician I: $3,544 - $4,307 per month
Law Library Technician II: $3,898 - $4,738 per month
