AA degree or 60 semester hours of college credit.
One year employed with the library system or
one year paid experience working with children and young adults.
Knowledge of contemporary and classic children’s literature.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to navigate the Internet and ability to work with computers & software.
Ability to place items in proper alphabetical and numerical sequence.
Valid Driver’s license and reliable transportation.
WORK HOURS: 37.5 hour work week; two evenings a week and every other Saturday.
Selects books and audiovisual materials of interest to children and young adults to be acquired by library. Assists children and young adults in selecting and locating library materials. Plans and conducts programs for children and young adults to encourage reading, viewing, and listening to and use of library materials and facilities. Plans and conducts outreach in the community for children and young adults. Confers with teachers, parents, and community groups to assist in developing programs to encourage and improve children and young adult communication skills. Compiles lists of materials of interest to children and young adults. Conducts activities including storytelling, book talks, puppet shows, and film and multimedia programs.
