Adjunct Reference Librarian faculty provides reference services, and may occasionally provide instruction services, on a part-time basis. A master’s degree in library science is required.
The Maureen and Mike Mansfield Library is the largest library in the state of Montana with a tradition of collaboration with a variety of state and regional library partners. The Mansfield Library has two locations – the mountain campus and the College of Technology—and is a leader in the state in the use of technology to extend services and collections to the citizens and university’s global community. It is also the Regional Depository Library for Montana. The Mansfield Library is heavily used by students and researchers as a learning and social place offering opportunities for cultural and intellectual pursuits through its successful instructional programs, displays, special collections and events. he adjunct reference librarian reports to the Head of Information and Research Services and is a member of the reference team. The focus of the position is to provide user-centered general and specialized reference assistance with both traditional and electronic information resources; cover evening, weekend, and holiday reference desk shifts; and assist tenure-track librarians with special projects, instruction, or other assignments to meet the changing requirements and dynamics of the Information & Research Services Division and the Mansfield Library.
The successful candidates will have:
An American Library Association (ALA) accredited Master’s degree in Library Science
Experience or education in the use of traditional and electronic information resources;
Ability to work in a team environment with colleagues and patrons;
Strong service orientation;
Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills;
Ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly; and
Ability to handle multiple responsibilities in a changing environment.
